FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS (OCCASIONAL QUESTIONS ARE MARKED *)
Question: Can learners from different classes participate in preparation of one video card?
Answer: Yes, it's possible. But such a contribution will belong to the category according to the age of the oldest participant in the group, pair, etc.
Question: Do I have to keep the given time limit? And why is it established?
Answer: The jury will also consider how the learners managed to introduce their town in the given time limit and what they chose to present. But there won’t be any stop-watch in the hands of the members of the jury. The shortest borderline of the limit has to be reached.
Question: May I read the commentary?
Answer: It's one of the possibilities. But consider, there will be video cards with a non-read commentary and this will surely influence the jury. But it's up to you.
* Question: How many pupils can be involved in preparation of a video card?
Answer: It’s up to the teacher and the chosen form of presentation.
* Question: Can we shoot the video card at our school?
Answer: The choice of places you want to introduce is up to you. But consider, there will be also contributions, where pupils will introduce interesting places from their town or village. Compared, the video card which was made only at your school or even in your classroom is surely going to be unattractive. The decision where to shoot and what to include is part of your task.
* Question: Is it necessary for a competing learner to be seen in their video card? Is it enough if they only record their commentary?
Answer: The way how to present a video card is fully up to the competitors. If this matches your conception of the video card, it’s not a problem.
* Question: May the commentary be spoken by someone else than by competitors?
Answer: In this competition pupils show their communication skills, so the commentary has to be presented by the competitor.
* Question: Can we shoot a video card on a CD or DVD?
Answer: Yes, this is possible from the sixth year of the competition. DVDs have to have the given formats – see the main page of the competition.
* Question: In case of winning, what are the prices? Do the weekly stays in the UK concern individuals or a group?
Answer: A weekly stay in the UK concerns individuals or smaller groups. Finding sponsors who would grant material prices or funds belongs to the most difficult things for organisers. Groups will be awarded by material prices.
* Question: Can the video card be animated?
Answer: The competitor won’t be probably in the picture and so they will have a big advantage compared to those who speak ‚live‘. It’s even possible that the contributor could read the commentary (or they may even ask another person to read it out for them?) So, if an animated card, find a way how to include yourself in the picture. Yes, of course it’s possible to send in an animated card without your presence in the film, but consider there will be more films in which the competitors will be seen and they will get points from the jury.
